Keep On Smoking

I did it !
I'm now JUST an Occasional Smoker
After 15 years of being a heavy smoker - in my case that was over 20+ cigarettes per day - and trying to quit way too many times, I decided that I didn't want to stop.
I openly envied those that would only smoke at gatherings, parties and other social events and I thought: why not? why couldn't I do that?
It's now (2017) over 13 years since I broke the habit, killed the dependency and enjoy a cigarette whenever I want without falling back into the addiction.
How
I followed a method.
Oh, that simple?
Well, not really.
I had tried reducing the cigarettes per day, even tried quitting following different methods many times before.
None worked for me.
So, what was different this time?
I created my own method.
The Method
Friends and family have asked me for years how I did it and, as much as I wanted to help them, it's not like writing a recipe on a piece of paper.
There are different phases that you go through, both physically and mentally, and how you manage through these will have a direct impact in the probability to succeed.
With the clear intention to continue smoking I had to find a way to break the addiction and manage to turn smoking into just a pleasure.
I noted every step in my journey, identifying the elements and decisions that were making it harder or easier to progress. Most of those were things that I knew I could control so I left little room for excuses.
I promised my friends and family that one day I would write it all down ... and here I am, ready to do that, ready to write my first book.
The Book
I don't know how long it will take me - I have a full-time job that doesn't leave me a lot of time for writing. Will it work for everyone? Well, that would probably be too much to expect. What I'm sure of is that anyone who enjoys smoking as much as I do but hates the slavery of the addiction will hold good chances to become a social smoker.
